The night falls, breeding crickets and low clouds. A child crawls avoiding the dents on the wooden glossy floor, moves so silently. Her fine hair reveals glimpses of an unknown expression. There's only a wall, an unbearable presence of a room. Quiet falls when an electric hum ceases. Thoughts become one with the cool air, they evaporate and fall with the mist that decorates the grass.
Tuuli Turunen is a Central Saint Martins MA Womenswear alumni. Her graduate collection 'Nightwalk' showcased at LFW 25 portrayed an atmosphere of intrigue that depicts a world where the silhouettes of people and places blend into one, where imagination fills in the blanks.
"Noirish, thoughtful, nocturnal. I wanted to challenge the femme fatale archetype, presenting an alternative wherein you don't have to be so loud, bold – and perhaps even cold – to have a voice." (British Vogue)
Turunen's work is inspired by music and cinema. Each collection depicts a vignette of a story that leaves the observer with hints of the whole narrative.
"Turunen plays with the materiality of the fabrics, intentionally distorting their shapes to create a sense of fragility and imperfection." (1Granary)
